Meet the Counselor

Why Counseling

My journey to the field of counseling has not been direct. As a result, I bring a rich variety of life and professional experience into my work.  I grew up in Ohio and earned an undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University in Plant Pathology.  I married my high school sweetheart, and we moved around for ten years as he served in the Navy.  (We enjoyed living in various parts of the U.S. and even in France for a time.)  After that adventure, our young, growing family landed in Huntersville, North Carolina.  We have enjoyed putting down roots in this beautiful area for the past ten years.

Jumping back into the work-force after years as a stay at home mom, I realized I care deeply about opportunities for children and teens to live healthy, meaningful lives.  I am committed to influencing families, schools, and communities toward better relationships and better outcomes.  I earned a Master's degree in Counseling from Wake Forest University in 2021. For the past two years,

I have worked full-time at a non-profit organization. My role has been coming alongside under-resourced families and students to offer academic support: tutoring, advocacy and educational counseling.  My passion for the importance of every child’s and student’s story has grown stronger through this work.  I am driven to provide hope and solutions for under-resourced, often overlooked students struggling to overcome tough obstacles.  Abundant Spring Counseling was created to creatively meet the needs I see in my community..

About Me

My husband and I have been married for over twenty years. Our three kids attend public school in Huntersville.  Our oldest is finalizing plans for college next year.  Abundant Spring Counseling is the beginning of a new season for me professionally.  Here are some tried and true qualities always true of me.  Nature feeds my soul.  I make it a practice to stop and enjoy the beauty around me.  I have a strong competitive side and when I’m not pausing to notice beauty, I like to be busy.  An outlet for my middle-age, sporty side is the joy I find running – long, short, social, and alone– I love running miles.  My days are full as a wife, mom, professional, and friend. I have much to be grateful for.

Thank you for the opportunity to share a bit of my story with you.  I look forward to connecting with you and your story soon. My heart’s desire is to make a lasting impact in your children’s lives and in our community.

Take great care,

Sarah
